Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Sarajevo was founded in 1958 and for over 10 years it was the only Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The study at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Sarajevo is in line with the concept and structure of the Sarajevo University Statute, which stipulates, inter alia, the adaptation of the Bologna Process studies and the evaluation of student work through ECTS credits.

In order to expand the wide range of disciplines, the engineering of branch engineering is aimed at the gradual introduction of specific disciplines of particular mechanical engineering specialties. The first cycle study enables students to work on teamwork and self-employment, but also requires basic and professional knowledge to continue their studies.

The third year of study is designed to give the students the necessary breadth of vocational education, which, by acquiring Bacalaureate, provides the basis for action in the given segment of the profession. In this way, by selecting certain groups of subjects and free elective subjects, students are able to satisfy their own preferences and interests. Free elective courses, selected in the sixth semester, give the breadth of the profession because they can be selected outside the courses offered by one department.
An integral part of the teaching process is the organization and planning of expert excursions where students visit production departments in the area of interest of the department. The first cycle of study ends with the fulfillment of all obligations prescribed by the curriculum.
